With an extra year to put precautions in place, Laurel Ridge will be offering in-person camps throughout 2022!
To help you make an informed decision in choosing whether to register for an in-person camp session or participate in our virtual camp option, here is a summary of our operational safety precautions and procedures. These are based on the most current guidance from the CDC, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Redwood Insurance, and the American Camp Association. These changes may evolve throughout the year as guidance and requirements change.
All requirements below apply to campers and counselors that would like to attend any camp at Laurel Ridge during 2022:
Preparing for In-Person Camps
NON-Vaccinated persons will be required to:
- In the 3 days prior to your camp, it is requested that you limit activities, except for ESSENTIAL activities. Examples are a job, daycare, doctor visits, necessary trips to the grocery store for food. NON-ESSENTIAL activities, examples are shopping in clothing stores, going out to eat in a restaurant, having a playdate or sleepover with a friend, vacation, another week of camp at another location.
- A negative COVID-19 rapid test documented and presented at registration. (updated 04/05/2022)**
Vaccinated persons with up-to-date boosters will be required to:
- Send a copy of the up-to-date vaccination card.
- Definition: meets recommendation by the CDC for all boosters. Boosters must be 14 days out before you are considered up-to-date.
- Must resubmit cards even if you came to camp in 2021. (updated 04/05/2022)**
Staff and Cleaning Protocols
Staffing:
- Leadership staff will maintain social distance from groups and use face masks, medical staff will use appropriate PPE while interacting with campers, and counselors will stay with their cabins throughout the day.
Disinfecting:
- All bathrooms on campus will be disinfected multiple times a day.
- All facilities will be cleaned appropriately between each camp.
Summer Camp Protocols
Cabin Groups:
- Full capacity will be recognized in cabins cabin groups
- Small groups will be normal.
Food Service:
- Meals served cafeteria style with staff plating all food for each person.
- Outside seating/lodges will be used as needed/appropriate.
Activities:
- Cabins will rotate together through all activities with their cabin counselors.
- The Program Manager, counselors, and campers will help decide, as a cabin, which activities they want to participate in.
- Campfires, talent shows, vespers, and other evening programs will take place outdoors whenever possible, with social distancing.
- Cabins will have the opportunity to participate in new activities because of the small group sizes and schedule flexibility.
- Photos will be taken throughout each session and shared daily.
Mission and Arts Camp Protocols
Lodging:
- Capacity – 1 person per room unless they are from the same household.
- Temperature checks twice per day for all staff, counselors, and campers, along with daily symptom checks.
Food Service:
- Meals served cafeteria-style with staff plating all food for each person.
- Tables will be socially distanced.
- Outside seating will be used as needed/appropriate. Other areas of the lodge will be made available for eating as needed.
Activities:
- All projects will be outside.
- Campfires, talent shows, vespers, and other evening programs will take place outdoors whenever possible, with social distancing.
- Photos will be taken throughout each session and shared daily.
